Have you tried one diet after another because none of them work?
Are you constantly thinking about how you can lose weight or what you're going to eat for the day?
Do you believe that the only way to improve your health is through weight loss?
What is Nutrition Counseling?
Nutrition counseling is not another diet. It's not a weight loss program. It's not a lecture to increase your fruits and veggie intake (although admittedly that is important!).
Nutrition counseling is a partnership between you and your dietitian that allows you to meet your health goals. It takes into account any pre-existing conditions that may be affected by your eating and other lifestyle behaviors.
How Will Nutrition Counseling Help Me?
Our goal is to work with you to meet your specific needs. We examine your lifestyle factors, medical history, and food preferences to set realistic goals to help you improve your health.
At Free State Nutrition, we know that changing your eating habits may be challenging, and we work with you to identify and address any obstacles you may face when setting your nutrition goals. You will get expert advice and personalized recommendations that will work for you and your life.
Ditch the Fad Diets. Choose Intuitive Eating.
Diets don't work for 9 out of 10 people, so don't blame yourself if you haven't been able to stick to your plans in the past. Weight loss (not to mention weight loss maintenance) is incredibly challenging for a number of reasons, AND it is not a necessary component of pursuing health. Intuitive Eating is a completely different approach that might exactly what you need. Intuitive Eating focuses on listening to your body's internal cues rather than external rules. Heal your relationship with food, learn how to trust your body again, and live a healthier, happier life regardless of your weight.
How We Can Help
- Provide general healthy eating advice.
- Help establish and maintain a healthy feeding relationship and positive body image.
- Help manage health conditions that may be affected by lifestyle factors (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver).

- Help with eating disorder recovery
Benefits of Intuitive Eating

- Heal your relationship with food.
- Escape the trap of fad diets.
- Eliminate food-related stress.
- Feel control, confidence, and hope.
- Rediscover the joy of food.
- Be at peace with yourself for the rest of your life.
What's the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?
Besides the level of training (that can vary or be non-existent for nutritionists), the service we provide sets Dietitians apart from Nutritionists and even other healthcare providers. Check out this infographic to learn more about Medical Nutrition Therapy.
What about weight?
Have you noticed something missing? I have pretty strong feelings about weight loss or weight "management." I don't fault anyone for wanting to change their body or feeling like they need to for their health. At the same time, I will not be part of that mission.
Find out why I don't assist my clients with intentional weight loss by watching the video to the right. If you'd like to read about the research backing up my stance, check out this article from the data guru herself, Ragen Chastain.
