Heather Fiore

Registered Dietitian

Heather Fiore, MSEd, RD, LD, CDCES has more than 25 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian. She received her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University and later completed a Masters of Science in Health Education at SUNY Brockport.

Heather moved to Lawrence in the summer of 2016 with her husband (Professor of Genetics at KU) and two children. The family also has 3 cats and a bearded dragon. Heather started Free State Nutrition in April of 2017. In addition to the private practice, Heather teaches group fitness classes at Genesis Health Clubs and volunteers with LWN and 1MC.

Heather received specialized training in adolescent nutrition through the interdisciplinary Leadership Education in Adolescent Health program at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She is also a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.

Heather is licensed in the states of Kansas, Missouri, New York, and Texas to practice dietetics. She can also see clients who reside in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia.

Katie Wilcox

Office Manager

Katie Wilcox is a dedicated senior care professional with a strong background in leadership and operations. She earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Human Services (2010) and her Master of Science (2012) from Kansas State University. Katie began her career in long-term care as a dietary aide, quickly discovering a passion for caregiving. Over the years, she advanced through various roles, ultimately serving as an Executive Director in retirement communities.

In the fall of 2024, Katie returned to Lawrence, Kansas, where she and her longtime partner are raising three teenage boys. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she enjoys supporting her children’s school and club sports, exploring local areas, practicing yoga, and shopping. Katie is known for her broad range of operational skills, compassionate leadership, and unwavering commitment to supporting others in both her personal and professional life.
